SAYS "THANK YOU" TO CORUS AND THE COMMUNITY
FOR $102,052.07 . . . AND COUNTING !
Cornwall, March 12, 2009 - Local healthcare remains a priority to the Caring Hearts in the Cornwall and area community. The March 11th third annual Corus Caring Hearts Radiothon raised over $102,000 in support of Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation's ongoing equipment appeal.
Broadcasting live from Cornwall Square on Variety 104.5, Rock 101.9 and AM 1220, the incredible tag team of Corus announcers hosted thirteen hours of live interviews and testimonials from hospital staff, donors, patients, volunteers and local celebrities. The Hospital Foundation thanks Corus for their dedication and talent in keeping the message strong and fresh. We also thank the 27 sponsors and almost 100 volunteers who answered phone lines throughout the day to accept pledges of support. Hundreds of telephone and onsite donations were received along with challenges that raised the bar for healthcare dollars.
It is clear when it comes to supporting local healthcare, people are ready and willing to give. They know they are "paying it forward" by assuring our dedicated medical professionals have the tools they need to save lives. Thank you Corus for raising funds that will place essential medical equipment, not covered by government funding, in the hands of our physicians and healthcare workers.
Roy Perkins, CCH Foundation Chair, would like to thank Corus Entertainment for their continued dedication to making a difference. "The Corus team, under the leadership of Scott Armstrong, General Manager, unites businesses and individuals in the community for a common cause. We are grateful to Corus for their continuing faithful support."
CCH Foundation Executive Director, Connie Vardy added, "Thank you to everyone from the young Caring Heart who gave her babysitting money to those who give in memory of a loved one to the donors who support us again and again. We are humbled by your generosity."
Photos of the Radiothon will be posted soon. Watch for them by logging on our website (www.cchfoundation.ca) and clicking on the Corus Caring Hearts link.
